He won't hold my hand anymore.

What a week it's been. Something important to remember on each day and wondering if it is possible to do it all without stress. I think we kind of achieved it but there was still the usual scramble out the door in the morning. Archie and I managed a walk around our neighbourhood and noticed the little things which are big to him...

Eighteen art works headed off to the printers to turn into cards and prints.

More fun paintings I have been working on this week...

Diana the Donkey

What? It wasn't me.

Tropical yarn Bomb!

Want to come to my party?

Couldn't resist taking a photo of this sunset at Bill's soccer training.

Our week ended today with the kids competing in the small schools athletic carnival...

 Abby's coming 2nd and airborne!

Bill getting ready - green shorts/black sneakers.

 Ollie in action.

Thought you might like to know that I'm crazy about dough. Play dough, bread dough and pizza dough! So to knock out homemade pizzas with a variety of simple toppings is a joy for me. I find myself relaxing as I'm kneading and rolling out 8 pizza's. At the end of all this relaxing work is a dinner that is guaranteed to please all seven of us. Happiness. Oh and in case you're wondering the eighth pizza goes to the hungriest, usually Laurie.

Lastly I felt a need to capture this moment of my sweet Abby. I have the pleasure of brushing this beautiful mane every morning before school. It usually ends up in a ponytail, sometimes high, sometimes low. Occasionally piggy tales but it is so thick that piggies can be a bit tricky. I wish I was better at braiding. How about you? Do you have fun styling your children's hair? Enjoy it while you can, I hear a voice telling me.

Have a great weekend, I'll be back here again on Monday. Emma x.

Exciting times...

Hi! Great you've popped in, let me tell you what I've been up to. Firstly as you have probably already gathered I'm very new to blogging and I've had quite a time trying to get my blog looking schmiko. Finally though I am happy with the look and layout and happy to show you the initial sketch which was the start of my banner. I love working on these characters they send my head into a spin with the stories they could be part of. Lexie and I have been trying to come up with names for these girls. What do you think? Any ideas out there?

'Besties'

Last night we headed up to Sydney to see Vivid the laser light show. We knew it was going to be good, it was better than good just amazing.

The Opera House a beautiful canvas.

'Archie & Laurie'

Along the esplanade from the Opera House was this gorgeous window display in a restaurant, things like this make my heart skip a beat.

'A glass of bubbly'

We got pushed along like a herd across Circular Quay, through the Rocks and made our way to Pancakes on the Rocks for dinner. The queue was very loooooooooooooooong, so Lexie took selfies.

'Me & my girls'

It was a great night out which is not something we a do a lot of as our youngest is only two. The kids were wowed by our big beautiful city and the amazing things people do. Well done Vivid it was magical.

Exciting things are happening around here at the moment. I have been getting my artwork ready for printing. Soon I will have greeting cards and prints made up for selling. Just as I was going to sit down to do some work I realised I had a seat warmer at work.

'Milton'

I'm very thankful too as it's nippy around here, 6 degrees this morning. So here's some of my latest artwork.

'Feeling Peckish'

'Mushroom Girl'

'Ooo I love the wrapping'

'Weeheee!'

I really enjoy working with watercolours and I'm getting into painting with ink also. You can make lovely vibrant colours with ink but it's a bit pricey so I'm slowly building up my supplies, have to feed the children too!

'Archie & Lexie'

The youngest and the eldest enjoying a wiggle dance together, awww.

'Bill'

Just finished washing the car, and himself, ahem.

'Ollie's new mate'

Captain America moved in this week and I don't know what it is about him, but I really think we're going to have some fun with him around the place. Here he is on the front porch checking visitors for ID.

'One of my favourites'

Well that's about it for this week. Thanks for reading and please call again soon. Emma x.

Hi everyone, a jammed packed week as usual but just the right amount of down time too. Exciting news for my girls finding out that they both got parts in a musical with our local Youth Arts Council. They are to be Sailor's Girlfriends and have a line to say as well as singing and dancing numbers. Fantastic fun and will keep them busy for 3 months of rehearsals every Sunday. It's a wonderful experience for them and me as well, I will be involved backstage and get to put on my make-up artist hat. Creating memories that we'll look back on with fondness I'm sure.

Want to see what I've been working on? Do you? Ok here are some more watercolours flying off the drawing board.

Waiting at home.

Hmmm I like things better upside down.

Leaf Skipping

Kicking Leaves

Ruffled Feathers

Crazy Quacker II

Elegant Swan

So there you have it, just some of my latest work more to come soon. Thanks for stopping by, wishing you a happy week. Emma x.

Monday, June 2, 2014

Hello again, thought it would be a good idea to share a story and some more of my artwork. When I was four my brothers and I entered an art competition in London held at my dad's advertising agency. Amazingly we all came first in our age categories, woohoo! I wish I still had that painting, it was of a tiger's head and my prize was five pounds. Having a dad that was art director was pretty cool, we had access to the best felt tip pen collection. I loved watching him draw storyboards and could imagine them coming to life. As an adult I think I became intimidated by art, until about a month ago when I decided to take on a line drawing course to get me putting pen to paper. It is addicting and I can't believe how much fun I'm having. I hope my work puts smiles on faces…

 'Bloke'

 'Crazy Quacker 1'

 'Secrets in the bag'

'Bubble baths are my one weakness'

 'Fancy a cuppa?'

'These are for you!'

'Just whipping up a little something'

Welcome to my blog

Ok, deep breath huh! Lets do this. Finally I am writing my first post, on my blog! Something that I have wanted to do for quite some time. So with a little hesitation but a lot of excitement welcome to my blog. This is where I will share happy snippets of my life which revolves around my awesome family and life by the lake. Overtime you'll get to know a little bit about Lexie she's 11, Abby she's 9, Billy he's 7, Oliver he's 5 and Archie who's 2. My husband Laurie is a private chap but he might make the odd appearance. I am also kickstarting my life as an illustrator and writer for children and will share this process with you here. So without further ado let the visual feast begin!

Here's my handful and boy are they a lot of fun.
